Hyper Dash
I have freed the forms of my past paintings into the sculptural realm. These works capture visual bundles of energy with colorful juxtaposition without the rectangle to contain them. It relates to how hectic and humorous life can be and how we try to do everything, sometimes at once, simultaneously having a full sensory experience.
The images I create come from my thoughts during free-association, meditation or upon awakening from sleep. They do things like waiting, dancing, floating or bouncing. They are born from a separate consciousness developed over time and travel. Society redefines identities though popular culture at a fast pace and this shapes our means of perception. Visual images work our sensibilities and trigger us to make decisions that come from a primitive impulse to survive. Other times we make decisions based on what we assume to be the truth or appears beautiful to us.
It is my wish that the viewer spends quality time with the work and feels their presence. Eventually, they will start to experience things they did not see the first time because they were busy being "distracted".
